Meet Our President

Jennifer Frilot-Zachary

Greetings,

Welcome to the official website of the Lambda Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® located in the Sensational South Central Region. On behalf of the members of our chapter, it is an honor and a pleasure to greet you as Chapter President. It is with great pride and excitement that we share our journey, mission, and commitment to service with you. Since our chartering on June 5, 1976, Lambda Beta Omega has worked tirelessly to implement programs to meet the needs of our communities. We are rooted in the powerful legacy of our incredible charter members and I am honored to lead in building upon this rich legacy of service and sisterhood.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® (AKA), an international service organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women. Under the leadership of our International President, Danette Anthony Reed, we are Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood by executing programs in the following initiatives:

Strengthen Our Sisterhood
Empower Our Families
Build Our Economic Wealth
Enhance Our Environment
Advocate for Social Justice
Uplift Our Local Community

The foundational platform that Lambda Beta Omega established nearly 50 years ago remains strong and encouraging as we continue to make a positive impact on the communities we serve in the Opelousas and St. Landry Parish area. We invite you to explore our website to discover the many ways in which we are fulfilling our mission of “Service to All Mankind.” I encourage you to visit frequently to see just how much Lambda Beta Omega is doing to make a difference in our community.

Warmest Regards,
Jennifer Frilot Zachary, President

Meet Our Vice President

Tawasha Thomas

It is both my privilege and my pleasure to extend greetings on behalf of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Incorporated Lambda Beta Omega Chapter. As we know, the greatest leaders are servants first, and I am committed to helping lead our chapter in providing service to our community.

As the chapter’s Vice President, I oversee all our programs of work. Under the guidance of our current International President and CEO, Danette Anthony Reed, we are tasked with fulfilling the requirements of six chapter initiatives, all aimed at strengthening our community. My commitment is to ensure we complete this mission with efficacy and effectiveness.

Our mission is rooted in service, and these programs are essential for its successful execution. We actively partner with various entities in our community to create a meaningful presence. Although we are a small community, the needs are significant. Lambda Beta Omega has been instrumental in addressing these needs through initiatives such as voter registration drives, political awareness campaigns, and efforts to combat food insecurity. As Vice President, I intend to continue supporting these initiatives and further the legacy of our sorority.

Sincerely,
Tawasha Thomas, Vice President
