Pumps and Pearls

Pumps and Pearls, our signature annual fundraising event, was established to celebrate the essence of our chapter and pay tribute to our esteemed members. It's a night where we not only honor individuals within our community who exemplify our core values but also celebrate the spirit of unity and excellence that defines us. And in the radiant month of June, we host our highly anticipated All White Affair—a night that promises elegance, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories. Don't miss out on this spectacular event!

Little Miss and Junior Miss Pageant

Our cherished annual Little Miss and Junior Miss pageant stands as a cornerstone fundraiser for our chapter’s community events. From our youngest participants to high schoolers, young ladies grace the stage, showcasing their talents and honing their confidence and leadership abilities. Four deserving ladies are crowned to represent our chapter at numerous events throughout the year. This time-honored tradition not only bolsters our initiatives but also nurtures the next generation of community leaders.

  • January was full of purpose, service, and sisterhood 💗💚 We kicked off the year grounded in connection and commitment at our chapter meeting, setting intentions for the months ahead. We proudly honored our rich legacy through Founders’ Day service, giving back while reflecting on the principles that continue to guide our work. Our month also included hands-on impact through tree planting, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and care for our community, balanced with fellowship and fun at our Topgolf event. We poured into the next generation at our Gen Next Vision Board Party, encouraging goal-setting, confidence, and vision for the future. We closed out the month by honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a meaningful Day of Service, reminding us that service remains at the heart of all we do. January set the tone for a year rooted in service, excellence, and intentional impact — and we’re just getting started ✨
  • Gen Next Spotlight ✨ Tawasha Thomas is a proud 28-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, initiated in Fall 1997 at Northwestern State University’s Eta Chi Chapter. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and serves as the Coordinator of Parental Involvement for the St. Landry Parish School System. As a devoted mother of one adult son, she values peace, laughter, and lifelong learning. She also enjoys baking, reading, traveling, and exploring new cultures. Currently, she serves as Vice President of the Lambda Beta Omega Chapter. As the new year begins, she looks forward to all that 2026 brings as she prepares to celebrate her 50th birthday —embracing life with purpose, joy, and intention.
